House Renovation by +Tongtong Architects

Description by +Tongtong Multidisciplinary design studio +tongtong recently completed a renovation and addition to a traditional Victorian house in Toronto. The house was transformed into an open and bright modern home through a series of strategic moves and incisions. The specifications were to build a modern family home that expands the area of livable space while remaining true to the vernacular of the neighborhood. This challenge was met with an emphasis on natural materials and light. Inspired by rural living and the original build date of the home, industrial materials accentuate re-imagined architectural qualities in an unmistakable contemporary space. Grey and black zinc used throughout both the exterior and interior of the home is a material that blends traditional aspects with the new contemporary scheme. Inside, a vertical shaft brings light from large skylights down 3 floors illuminating the ground floor while animating a zinc wall and ceiling above the [ Continue reading ]

Miller’s House by asdfg Architekten

Description by asdfg Architekten The history and special situation of the building was a big challenge, but we also saw a high potential in it to become a very unique single family house with a garden in the center of one of the most popular neighbourhoods of Berlin. As it is the oldest building of Prenzlauer Berg, the authorities requested us to reconstruct the facade of the heritage-protected building precisely as depicted on an historical drawing from the year 1844. We wanted to show the history of the old building without pretending that the facade would be 170 years old. Our concept was to interpret the lines in the historical drawing as differences in the height of a stucco facade using ancient techniques and materials. In an architectural drawing a line could be interpreted in different ways; as a gap in the wall, a section line or a difference in [ Continue reading ]

In Vogue Luxury at Temozon House in Yucatan, Mexico

Conceived by Carrillo Arquitectos y Asociados, the Temozón House was assembled in 2013, in Yucatan, Mexico. Proclaiming a specific state-of-the-art design that underlines solid edges and angular shapes, the Temozón House thrills with a cosmopolitan allure yet welcoming aspect that is eclipsed in grandeur only by its own sumptious room distributions organized between its walls. In consideration of guaranteeing an obvious contact between the interior and the exterior, the establishment was designed utilizing an L-shaped scheme that partly surrounds one of the inside gardens. By enclosing the pool to the garden, the design attempts to deliver numerous recreation alternatives, offering its inhabitans the desired ambience for detaching from the everyday worries. As regards the indoor field, we can remark the warmth of the appearance that makes every visitor feel like home. Abundant comfort and delighting decor features complement the cozy ambience. The tender shades of the chambers blend in perfect [ Continue reading ]

A Simple House with Style

Christian Street House by James Russell Architect: “We are fortunate to live with a benign subtropical climate. Christian Street House in Clayfield, an inner north suburb of Brisbane, sits on the east side of a rolling hill, opening its face to the morning sun and bay breezes. It’s back is buried in the hill, protected from the harsh summer sun, storms and winter westerlies. High gables make a patio to street, a covered arrival and gathering place with barn doors to living behind. Cars participate without becoming a barrier between street and life within. There are many ways to move around this place. Journey from street can take you across patio, down outdoor stairs and around garden to meals, living and water. The boys can sneek in from street via a grungy service lane, they can come and go independently. Their rooms have a more public side to garden and [ Continue reading ]

Small Bathroom Design

Yes, you may have the smaller bathroom you’re ever seen, and you think that it looks agglomerated. It may have some tricks and ideas for your bathroom. I know I can’t transform it in a big one, but I can, for sure, make it look amazing. Here are the ideas: 1. Try to make your bathroom more colorful, use different patterns for your walls; 2. Find a small bathtub; 3. Use a lot of shelves to deposit your things in; 4. Use a big source of lights.
