House Renovation by +Tongtong Architects

Description by +Tongtong Multidisciplinary design studio +tongtong recently completed a renovation and addition to a traditional Victorian house in Toronto. The house was transformed into an open and bright modern home through a series of strategic moves and incisions. The specifications were to build a modern family home that expands the area of livable space while remaining true to the vernacular of the neighborhood. This challenge was met with an emphasis on natural materials and light. Inspired by rural living and the original build date of the home, industrial materials accentuate re-imagined architectural qualities in an unmistakable contemporary space. Grey and black zinc used throughout both the exterior and interior of the home is a material that blends traditional aspects with the new contemporary scheme. Inside, a vertical shaft brings light from large skylights down 3 floors illuminating the ground floor while animating a zinc wall and ceiling above the [ Continue reading ]

Christmas Room Decor

Decorating the bedroom it’s the easiest part when it comes to decorate regardless of any season. The first decoration I thought about when it comes to your bedroom it was about the bed sheets. Choose one with Christmas motifs and some pillowcases with messages like: HoHoHo, Let it snow, Merry X-mas, etc. Another must-have for this season is the decorated table; with seasonal candles, globes, pin cones. Above the bed you can personalize some Christmas Tree Lights (I will show you in a sooner post how to do it) If you want to decorate your children’s room you can also opt for an Advent Calendar which, honestly I think it is as beautiful for the adults.

Bedroom Design Ideas

Between sleeping, reading and, quite simply, relaxing, it’s likely you spend a lot of time in your bedroom. It makes sense, then, that you’ve also spent a significant amount of time turning it into your own personal oasis. CONVENTIONAL A conventional bedroom layout is anchored by a bed with a nightstand on either side. Across from the foot of the bed, a dresser should be situated below a mirror. Resist the temptation to add more furniture. You don’t need it. LOUNGE-LIKE If your room has ample space, however, consider creating a lounge-like atmosphere. For creating a separate space for daytime relaxation in your bedroom, situate two lounge chairs across from the foot of the bed with a side table in between them. TINY BEDROOM In tiny bedrooms, it’s important to make us of the side walls and mirrors to open up the space. One space-saving technique is to put the bed against the wall, with a [ Continue reading ]

Casa Azul by Cincopatasalgato

” Happy, serene, gentle, friendly, good-hearted young family of 4 built this beach house at Costa Azul, an hour and half away from San Salvador and close to the border with Guatemala. Husband and father works in capital investment and wife and mother is the owner of La Luna de Mateo in San Salvador, a kids’ playhouse that caters to their imagination and need for exploration. Both born and raised in El Salvador, they resettled in their native country after years of traveling and living abroad to build a home that spoke to their gentle nature. Their new home, built right on the beach, allowed their children Mateo and Luna, 6 and 4 respectively, to play and explore at their hearts’ desire. Between choosing the location and designing the home, their ideal home would have the following elements – simple, elegant, inviting, and connected with nature, with modern yet rustic [ Continue reading ]

Kids Room

Decorating a kid’s room doesn’t have to be so difficult as it seems to. You only need creativity, and if you have it, you have it all. You have to paint the room in playful colors, to take care not to forget about the play corner. An interesting thing about a kid room is the floor. You can personalize the floor in a shape of an animal, or a car, or a doll. The bed has to be covered with fun throw pillows. The most important thing: Ask your child what he/she would prefer !!!
