Pop Art Apartment

CG artist Dimitry Schuka is establishing a brave interior picture, by blending in pop art elements. Schuka has managed to transform a standard living space into a glamorous dwelling. The bright colours of the furniture features, the vivid shade of the wall paint, together with the chic pop-art pieces concur to create an unequalled ambience. All these elements manage to launch a bold outcome, producing a truly surprising home design, being a perfect impersonation of the freshest trends in interior architecture. The living area has strong dark-coloured floors that complement constrastingly the simpleness of the white walls, embelished by the dark blue accent walls. Ceiling windows warm up the whole appearance so the dark wall doesn’t look too intimidating. The plenary mise en scene is airy, given that the diner and kitchen are to the rear of the living room. The colourful furniture explodes in tones of turquoise and hot [ Continue reading ]

How to Make a Garden Fountain Out of, Well, Anything You Want

You tried sweating it out in the sauna, you can’t let go in a yoga pose, and om isn’t exactly hitting home. And no wonder—you’re working too hard at relaxing. What you need is a place to sit quietly and contemplate the sounds of nature: birds chirping, breezes blowing, brooks babbling. What—no backyard brook? Not a problem. Just build yourself the next best thing, with a softly trickling garden fountain. The project is nothing to get stressed about. In a mere weekend, you can fountain-ize most any leftover garden ornament, turning it into an enduring monument to tranquillity. Revive a defunct birdbath, declare your own ode to a Grecian urn, or drill holes in a stack of rocks you found on-site, as This Old House technical editor Mark Powers did for a friend one hot afternoon. When the job is finished and your fountain runneth over, you’ll rinse the tension from your [ Continue reading ]

Gardening Tips: Colour Your Fall Garden

One of the biggest gardening tips I ever learned was to plan a garden that had perennials blooming all season. It’s so easy to have blooms in the spring, the early summer, high summer and even into August. But to get perennials that bloom in the fall is another challenge. Here’s eight plants you can add to your perennial border to have blooms right through to the end of October (or beyond in some areas).   Crysanthemums: It’s the obvious choice….late bloomers that withstand frost, mums are the perfect fall flower. They come in a myriad of colours, heights and size of blooms. But a lot of people don’t have much success with them. Mostly because we buy the wrong mum. Those mums you find at the grocery store in pots really aren’t hardy enough to withstand a cold, snowy winter and will most likely not return come spring. So make [ Continue reading ]

Modern Bathrooms

The bathroom is the place where we can relax and put the things in order in our mind. For me, the bathroom should be a clean and luminous space which will calm me whenever I open the door. I always imagined myself having a shower/bath surrounded by plants and bright colors. I don’t know why, but I always wanted my bathroom to be in black and white, if possible more white. I will show you some pictures with bathrooms that I like and I want to know if you like them too, or what kind of bathrooms would you like? My choice, as I said before, is a clean, white with plants bathroom + a big mirror!!

5 Feng Shui Rules For Your House

Perhaps we all know what feng shui is. I think an introduction isn’t necessary in this world that gained enough momentum and is so well known. The 10 golden rules I’ll talk about would give you not just luck and slience, but also a nice aspect of the room. 1. The front door and hallway are the entrance of the energy, be it positive or negative, in the house and that’s why this area should not be loaded with unnecessary things. Place in the hallway a beautiful painting, a green plant, a motif to represent an image of nature; 2. Make orders through things and get rid of any old thing that you do not use anymore. It is recommended to avoid congestion in the room with old things; 3. Pay attention to color selection. Every room in the house should be present in different forms, colors or elements that represent [ Continue reading ]
